Cusco, also known as “Sacred City”, “Capital of the Inca Empire”, “Capital of the Empire of Tawantinsuyu” and “Cultural Heritage of Humanity”, was the capital of the four extensive regions that the great Inca Empire had possessed. Those territories actually belong to Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. |

Knowing about Cusco is an amazing experience. Cusco is characterized by its Inca monuments, squares, fountains, churches, museums and houses that come from the colonial era and are part of history. Cusco and its imposing architectural structures such as Machu Picchu, Saqsaywaman, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chincheros, Tipon, Pikillacta, Moray, Choquequirao are the living expression of The Great Inca culture that had lived in the Empire of Tawantinsuyu with its capital, Cusco. At that time; men, with great wisdom and exquisite architecture technique, quarried and built stone in order to build cities, shrines, forts, terraces, palaces and mysterious ways that have not been destroyed by time. Otherwise, science could not explain how they’ve been built.
In 1913, Cusco was declared as “Cultural heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO.

CUSCO: THE CAPITAL OF TAWANTINSUYU |
|
|
The Inca Empire, which extended over the west area of South America in countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and part of the northern Argentina; had its heart in the city of Cusco. The empire was characterized by its high political, social, economic and military advance. Those practices were supported by an effective communication network, the Inca Trail.
The Inca, Son of the Sun was the supreme leader and its society was divided into hierarchical classes that practiced a polytheistic religion. The architecture, the development of the Inca Calendar, the decimal system, the excellent quality of its crafts and its remarkable medical practice, express clearly the level of cultural and scientific advance reached by the Inca Empire.
